>>6071046They're very strong but far from Mary Sues. The real Mary Sues are the Mages because they're all basically Batman but amped up.
For example, Time is one of the most fucky arcanums because at the most powerful levels it can allow you to savescum, read the future, change your own past, and ask questions about what would happen if X happens (essentially meaning you can lock in certain things happening if you think they're good for you).
Mind has Augment The Mind, which amps your intelligence to near superhuman levels, meaning the Storyteller practically has to help you make whatever harebrained plan you come up with on it succeed (or at least point out missteps and shit in plot you might have missed).
And you can recognize the Mage powergamers by those who go all into the Fate arcana, because the spells in there are basically "you get fucking lucky". Besides just plain dice buffs, spells like Serendipity basically ask the Storyteller "what's the better thing for me to do in this situation?", Lucky Number means you can leapfrog all interrogation and just guess the password, and Shifting the Odds allows to you find anything in 24 hours. And all of these spells can be cast by a relative beginner - that is, as soon as you create your character.
