As Calli’s personality began manifesting so did her body, and eventually she was standing right behind Gura, scythe against the spell protecting her neck. The visual was uncomfortably familiar. Gura, by sheer force of will and her eventual magic mastery had been the last of the girls left. The moment Calli reaped her was the moment she abandoned the persona of Calli, to avoid the grief.
As the Scythe left its perch, Gura felt arms wrap around her and tears upon her shoulder. They sat like that for a while. Eventually Calli pulled back and Gura turned around in her arms, looking up at the reaper’s puffy red eyes.
“Heya Calli.” And Gura put all her strength into returning the hug.
“Guh, look at me. Getting all weepy. I’m sorry I…”
“You big dummy. Stop apologizing. Glad to see you know me. When are we? I’m assuming the far future?”
“Yeah. No clue how many years it would be, but I’m all that’s here anyways.”
“Oh jeez, are you actually? That’s uh…”
“Yeah, it’s hella lonely, but I wasn’t a person for most of it.”
Gura remembered Calli talking about how much it hurt her that she would one day have to stop being Calli, and it was her turn to cry
