THAT was the actual original Hololive fanbase. Dozens of people wanting to cheer on an idol trying her best.
Then we had the travesty that you call the "original fabanse", which was Yagoo's shitty, but otherwise NUMERICALLY succesful strategy at the time, that was whoring the girls out for clout. And it's not just homo colabs, the girls went through a lot of shit, including eating bugs on stream and various shitty challenges.
We are talking about a time none of the girls, nor Yagoo wants to go back. We are talking about Yagoo's crying in a corner, and the girls thinking about "what am I even doing with my life?" time. And you have the audacity to call people who liked that, the "original fanbase", and some retards even tries to call it the golden era of hololive.
After they established a sizeable fanbase, they decided to stop that, and go back to its roots. They haven't gone all the way back, but decided to stay on a comfortable middle ground, where the fans get all the stuff an idol would do, but the talents can also do all kinds of streams with a degree of freedom inbetween their idol projects to keep their fanbase entertained.
