>>6233041Yeah compressor is critical. As a follow up, a short explanation of the different parts of the compressor :
>Ratiohow much it is compressed (3:1 to 8:1 depending on the case)
>ThresholdWhen the compression is activated, (from -25db to -5db depending on the case)
>Attack timeThe speed at which the compression goes from 0 to the set maximum (from 15 to 30ms is not bad), the more you put in the more natural the voice attack will be
>Release timeThe opposite, the speed at which the compression "falls back" (40 to 70ms)
>GainSimply to increase or decrease the volume, depending on the default volume of the voice
Some compressors have a "Type" which means how "soft" the curve is to go from uncompressed to compressed ("soft" for vocals)
Settings change depending on the situation, like singing vs talking etc.
