invest some money in a trial lens set and spend a few days learning how use it
figuring out the best cylinder power and angle is hardest part. once you got it pinned down you can usually get a better prescription then one you can get at an optometrist, not because they suck at their jobs or anything, but because they can't spend two and a half hours figuring out the perfect sphere power, cylinder power, and cylinder angle for a single patient.
glasses are very important for quality of life, a bit of time and effort to make sure you're seeing everything the way it's meant to be is worth it.
