There is no reason a vtuber would go radio silent for a pregnancy but she would know all of the rumors. I am not pregnant doesn't explain why she disappeared for 8 months but the Hololive NDA likely stops her from saying what really happened. If Haachama was fighting with management over her contract that would explain why the "flu" changed into a 5 month stay at the hospital because negotiations completely stalled.

A few months ago we had Vesper and Magni get into a big enough fight with management that both of them were fired. Cover was so furious they delayed the Tempus anniversary so they could erase them from the group merch/songs. When that can happen even in Holostars, which is Yagoo's favorite branch, it's not that hard to imagine how stalled contract negotiations might escalate in Hololive.

I thought at the time and continue to think her parents made her stop streaming activities to pass her classes and finish college. She was struggling with her grades prior to stopping.

Could have also doubled as a mental health break, too. I am skeptical she was actually institutionalized though.

No, the Tempus guys aren't Japanese but how many Holostars actually got a graduation stream when they left? The fighting with management is more common with the foreign branches but it does occasionally happen in the JP branch. Hololive talents make enough money that most of them will put up with absurd corpo decisions though Aventure Holic got several of them angry.
