Nightly Firmament, blossom! [Part 4]
No, not in there...nothing here either...was that all? Yes, it was.
"Damn it!"
Suisei was disappointed in herself. She really had forgotten to pack her own Suifriend doll just like Miko, in the one situation where her business partner needed a Suifriend doll so dearly. Miko didn't do well with staying at other places in general, and now they were so far from home that her poor Mikochi surely needed all the help she could get to feel at ease. Miko couldn't be a good tourist in the morning and a good businesswoman in the evening without sleep!
No, something had to be done. Suisei pondered her options for a bit before taking heart and grabbing the key card for her own room and the replacement card for Miko's room (that Suisei had insisted on in memory of the PON Shrine Maiden Lockout Incident).
Miko was lying in bed, eagerly awaiting a message by or the appearance of her business partner. She had just remembered where at home she had put her Suifriend doll before forgetting to put it into her bag, but what good was that? Packing her luggage at the last second had been a big mistake. If she had been alone on this trip, she would have been screwed! But she wasn't...her dear Hoshimachi Suisei was here with her in this foreign country, because she had insisted on accompanying Miko. How lucky she was to have someone like her!
Suddenly, the door to Miko's room was unlocked! Miko sat up with a big smile on her face.
"Sui-chan! Thank you for lending me your..."
"I'm sorry, Mikochi. I forgot to bring my Suifriend on this trip as well."
"Oh...what a pity, nye!" Miko was about to bemoan her predicament, but stopped herself just in time - Suisei probably felt bad about not being able to help, and there was no need to make that worse.
"Thank you for looking, at least! It's the gesture that counts, and you're so kind to come over and tell me in person instead of texting!" Miko said earnestly as she lay down again. "Don't worry, I'll manage to sleep even without my Suifriend...the bed is so nice, and I'm so tired!"
But that assertion wasn't quite so earnest - Miko had serious doubts about her ability to fall asleep like this, but that was something she shouldn't burden her business partner with.
"Are you sure about that?" Suisei said, but her voice didn't seem too sad to Miko...more cheeky than anything.
"Yes, I am!" Miko demonstratively closed her eyes and turned away from the door. Should she pretend to fall asleep to make Suisei feel less worried?
Miko got lost in thought, carefully pondering what to do while faintly hoping she might just be able to fall asleep anyway.
Until her bed's covers were suddenly lifted.
"Mikochi...both our Suifriends might be far, far way at home. But we still have each other, right~?" Suisei whispered softly as she put an arm around her business partner and snuggled up to her from behind, feeling Miko's warmth through both of their pajamas from head to toe. "You won't have to be alone - who needs a doll when you have the original in your bed?" Suisei said tenderly.
Miko's heart began to race, her mind overwhelmed by something she had secretly dreamt of so much happening so unexpectedly. Sui-chan was in her bed...not a little doll, but the real one! She wanted to say her business friends's name but only managed to produce a loud, cute squeal. Suisei smiled, enjoying how her taking the initative like this had overawed Miko - and she was not about to stop. She softly released Miko from her hug to go for something better.
"Won't you turn around, Mikochi...you'll have to cuddle me to fall asleep after all, right?"
"Nyes, yes..." Miko turned around, unable to see much because of the darkness. But knowing that Suisei's face was so close to her own - while they were in a shared bed! - now electrified Miko more than it stunned her. "Sui-chan...it's so sudden, but...thank you for coming!!!"
The shrine maiden's excitement made her wriggle and fidget, and just before she had gathered the confidence to look her Suisei in the eyes, her savior moved closer and put her head next to her business friend's. She wrapped her arms and legs around Miko who, much less elegantly, responded in kind.
Suisei was very excited herself - so glad that she had seized the opportunity, one so perfect that it seemed almost fated. But she contained her emotions behind a confident, mature facade - to keep the awkwardness at bay, and to play into Miko's fantasies.
"Isn't this nice, hm? This probably isn't something you expected, but but you seem to enjoy it a lot~ You're cute when you're excited."
"Oh yes Sui-chan, so so much! I don't need sleep anymore, you know? I just need your...your company!" Miko blurted out.
Suisei giggled. "What a romantic you are, Mikochi~ But let's enjoy each other's company in silence and see if we can find sleep together, hm? There's lots of business still to attend to in this city."
