To any aspiring vtubers currently reading this: you're only purpose is to become a pop culture icon. Your personality doesn't matter. Your opinions don't matter. You're not Pokimane or Lilypichu. You are Hatsune Miku, Rem, and Asuka Langley Soryu. You are just a waifu character to put on T-shirts and turn into vinyl statues. So sell that character. Don't bother trying to connect or open up to your "fans." They are just clocking into your streams just to prove that they are "real fans." They are no different than someone watching an anime to prove to their weeb friends that they're a weeb too. Say too much though and you'll make them want to find new friends. You shouldn't dedicate all your time to becoming an influencer or a generic streamer. Facecammers will always have an edge over you in that department because the vast majority of people searching for that type of content are looking for "real" people, and you will always seem like just a cartoon character to them. So embrace that character. Your main goal should be this: work with artists, organize merchandise production, and shill like hell. That is your job. Do as Hololive does. They are not a streamer group. They are not even an idol group. They are a multi-media franchise like Fate or Idolm@ster. That's what you need to become. Every stream, every tweet, every update post, every song, it all should lead up to the one goal: to sell your character. Sell your character, and then make and sell merchandise of that character. That is your job. Force your character into pop culture and become a mascot. That is your purpose.
