Without giving up that power, you basically are at dictatorship, and whoever is on top picks the winners, and the losers, with no recourse. Final stage capitalism is only possible if all the decision making processes, and ENFORCEMENT mechanisms in government are FULLY automated, with no human in the loop, and that is not possible currently, nor would it be acceptable to most humans, let alone those on top. Human nature is against it.
