Crt's don't have pixels like a traditional lcd display so although its outputting a "240p/480p" signal its actually cleaned up by the way that the image is drawn like anon described earlier. The "pixels" aren't really in a grid formation in the same way as modern lcd's, so even if you use a scanline filter the image is fundamentally different.
