>>6287181whether it's "worth it" or not is up to you desu. as someone who's learned 4 foreign languages, motivation is the one thing that has to remain rock solid the entire time. it doesn't have to be a "smart" motivation: if watching chuubas is your driving force for learning it and you can keep said motivation for a long time, then you've got that covered.
However, and this is especially important if you don't have foreign language learning experience, it's a very long and tough affair and anyone who tells you it's not is either lying or trying to sell you something, but I presume that it's also rewarding to be able to check your progress real-time as you slowly understand more and more (I say presume because I have no interest in learning Japanese and stay in the EN bubble and watch the occasional JP clip, but I've had motivations range from "learning this language for my career" to "learning this other one because it sounds cool", and as such it's how i realized it's the single most important aspect in the whole process)
also, don't use duolingo or at least not for long. its main useful feature is constantly reminding you and guilt tripping you to put in the work, but for actual language learning and especially with japanese it aint good
