I'd still call myself a DMC fan because I grew to like the characters, story, aesthetics and mechanics of the game, but would I return to the more archaic design of 3 or put myself over the lazily put together finale of 4 just for the sake of "catching up"? not really, no
your experience doesn't have to match another person's to make a declarative statement on your own preferences, anon, because they are yours - maybe you'll understand it some day, it generally comes with maturity
