We're talking about a person who didn't know she has to apply to college and missed the year because of it. YES. She simply assumed the college would be a continuation of high school.
When she was in school she was getting good grades, her parents were buying her games for good grades, she was happy. And she thought whole life would be like that. Get told to do something, do it well, get rewarded. She lacks social awareness in terms of going out of your way to do something.
