Execution is really the important aspect here honestly, Botan's sheep outfit for example has a very different feel from the original design but also adds some gap moe to the character that has entirely different appeal. I think either has value but if you want something different it shouldn't be out of character, but if you want a consistent design then it needs to still be different enough to be visually distinct from the original, otherwise there isn't really a point.

I'd rather costumes that keep the same art style and design than constantly shifting around what a vtuber looks like. The top looks wrong not from kson, but from constantly trying to change her style. it doesn't work.

Personally I like a high quality base model with a bunch of different outfits, consistency between outfits doesnt really matter as long as its something the streamer likes and enjoys using. Meme models not too beholden to those standards. Otherwise you get shit like GirlDMs newest outfit.
