If you're a little younger than that, then maybe you laughed at those deep-fried memes from like 2018-ish? I was too old for those when they were popular. Those were pretty meaningless and random, too.
A lot of humor for younger people is based on being utterly random. The reason for this is that the humor response comes from subverting expectations, typically by presenting a situation or idea that is, at some level, absurd.
The thing is, what you perceive to be absurd varies by your age. Older people have more context about the world. You can construct a more subtle joke, where the inconsistency, criticism, twist, or punchline is not readily apparent unless you have the proper context.
Young people don't have as much context, so what they find funny has to be glaringly absurd.
