>>63900377I'm probably a bad example because I didn't really take the studying side of things seriously enough and mostly focused on watching streams but it took a little under a year from when I started watching before I felt like I was understanding most things that weren't anime or culture references which I wouldn't have gotten regardless. And even then I was probably overestimating myself. The thing that helped most was that I started noting down things that sounded like they might have been interesting during the stream and then going back afterwards to figure out exactly what was said. This eventually evolved into me just live TLing everything I possibly could into text files which was a good way to force myself to actively listen. I'm still not perfect though and collabs are still hell when trying to do this.
