If was only school & holiday stuff, couldn’t she have just said something like “I off for the rest of the year” &/or “See you in Early/Mid/Late January (or Early February)”?
It makes it seem like maybe something else might’ve happened, which if that’s indeed the case, then really what she did say is absolutely fine. After-all it’s her personal life & she has every right to keep any details that could narrow it down to herself. Regardless we should say how appreciative we are of her communicating.
