If you care about vtubing, Ironmouse winning an award is better than some fleshtuber winning it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a holofag, nijifag, phasefag, vshojofag, idolfag, or twitchfag, this sends a message to normalfags that vtubers aren’t a novelty and they can make good enough content to win awards.
The bar isn’t very high for that. We all know the kind of schlock that passes for fleshstreamer content. But vtubers losing to *that* reinforces the idea that you shouldn’t take it seriously, so Ironmouse winning helps chip away at that.
And who cares if she’s on twitch and any new audiences will probably move there? Someone who watches twitch indies is still someone being taught to normalize anime avatars.
Once you get someone who’s willing to watch vtubers, it’s not hard for them to discover a HoloEN clip and go, “oh, I heard they were weird purity-obsessed JP clones. This Fauna/Biboo/Mumei girl is actually really funny!”
Yes, there are zoomers who don’t know anything about HoloEN, who remember nothing about Myth’s debut. Most vtuber fans are way less tribal than this board thinks. Getting more people to watch any vtubers at all helps every vtuber in the long run.
