>>64337653>>64340581>>64344869>>64348512The real definition of a unicorn fan is one that believes their oshi is a virgin. This term originates from 5ch and comes from Greek Myth, where unicorns originate, which describes unicorns as only being tamable by maidens.
It is commonly expected in Japan that Idols shouldn't date, but that kind of thing isn't allowed to be talked about here for some reason, and so this board has redefined the term to mean fans of female streamers that don't stream with men.
Idols in real life aren't expected to avoid all men however, and will work with male staff and creators for example. However, idols that stream present a higher degree to the parasocial aspects between fan and idol (and reap the benefits of this as well) as everyday direct communication and interaction is now an option. Additionally, the way in which streamers collab by playing games together is much different than the way an IRL idol would collab with males. It's much more casual and instead of appearing as work between two colleagues in a professional setting, it's much closer to the relationship between friends. So expecting a bunch of lonely male fans to want to watch some other guy become closer to and have more fun with their oshi then they get to is kind of foolish.
