>>64534036It is peak retarded and I've still not seen a proper argument for it that doesn't have at least one, often multiple, arguments against.
>Meant for phonesYou can much more easily flip your phone horizontally than most people can turn a monitor vertically. Especially temporarily.
Grip-wise it's even more comfortable for me personally, and easier to center the weight balance. Not that I ever watch shit on my phone.
I haven't seen a screenshot of the chat open on a phone with this format yet. I figure it either resizes it to be fucking tiny, which loses any perceived benefit a phonefag would have, or it overlays it on the stream. Either way, you have lost much of the claimed benefit. If you flip your phone horizontally to help with that, congrats, you've lost the main point for this format as a whole.
If you are in a situation you can't just keep your phone horizontally, such as only looking at it in small amounts as you do other shit, then it shouldn't matter if it's vertical anyway since you aren't actually watching.
>Can fit it around other windows more easilyIf you bother with this you could do the same with a horizontal stream by just overlaying windows on top of it so only the chuuba is visible. That's fine if you don't care about the other stuff, that doesn't mean it should be forcefully taken away from those who like the extra atmosphere it usually adds.
>"Smaller" video so less data usedIt's still the same resolution, just flipped. Same data usage as a result.
>Puts more focus on the chuubaCool but now they also end up overlaying shit on top of themselves, which more easily takes focus away from them or just hides more of their model than before.
They would have to put minimal to no extra assets on the stream for this. Probably fine for some streams, but doesn't make up for the downsides.
Outside of all of this, as mentioned in another point, the actual resolution is the same, just flipped. I highly doubt most of them even have monitors that go up to 1920 height, which means to achieve this, they're just upscaling shit anyway.
We'll see how it pans out, but it seems some don't put any thought into it and are actually considering making it a permanent format for their zatsu and uta streams. Supposedly because "you don't need the stuff on the sides" or similar such reasons, ignoring all the other annoyances this brings.
