I don't buy it, she pitches it up which is why she is coughing all the time. She used to do more of a moe voice early on but that changed to something a little more natural over time thanks to her free chats. My guess is she wants to sound excited to match her tomboy image instead of lethargic on her streams so she feels she has no choice even with the obvious strain it puts on her. She isn't going to see doctors all the time for no reason.

You shouldn't. There's a clip of her playing a baseball videogame on a cross company stream with some independents and nichisanji peeps and she completely drops her voice to normal. She has the same inflections and manner of speech, but its less nasally and lower pitched.

It's a half-truth, in that I don't think she sounds like that all the time, but it is true that her voice does become like that when she talks fast or excitedly, as I've heard it leak out when she was trying to keep her voice in a more deep tone before.

I believe that she's been working on that voice for a while but Towa's natural voice is way deeper. She uses it occasionally when she's tired and old roommate videos attest to it as well.

Shit like this is why I worry that most vtubers will actually fuck up their voices after a few years of doing this. Some of them are literally putting on a voice for hours everyday, even VA’s don’t use their “cute” voice that much.

Several do. I would say most, but a lot of Holomen are lazy about their stream setup. If you want an easy example look at Gura's karaoke stream you can find her digitally altering her voice with reverb and autotune.
