Still stabilising so it's hard to tell, but probably the strongest start for a new western agency so far.

Nunki seems to be doing well, the rest are a bit stagnant currently.

I'm expecting CyberLive will do better than amberglow at least but it's hard to know exactly. They've gotten a reasonable bit of attention but they also seem pretty scuffed chaotic on the whole. I'm at least partial to some of the talents from what I've seen so far.

I don't know how to feel about CL and PC doing the discord thing, I like that they're trying to give more interaction and differentiate themselves, but the crowd they attract is too cringe and the noise from discord is too voluminous to keep up with.

if you're purely numberfagging, yes; although Vshojo is basically playing by it's own bizzare ruleset out of the normal vtuber ecosystem so I don't tend to count them in things. They're successful as well as entertaining, but too drastically different from holos or nijis

Tsunderia is the epitome of slow and steady wins the race. Even if the dullahan flops, the fox is an artist that can apparently sing too. Wouldn't surprise me if she winds up carrying. And Tsunquest + Purin are still pulling consistent numbers, plus new outfits in the process of being revealed.
Must suck to see their rrat become a flower in another group, but Miori is still a great trade. The goodwill Tsunderia has in the VTuber community is the one thing they have over every other VTuber agency, but it's paid off for them. They're not going anywhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tsunderia get the last laugh there honestly. Some of their talents, namely Yuuna, can pull hundreds of viewers as is, that's not all that far behind NijiEn without having the same brand recognition. The rat might not have been that far behind where I expect she'll end up, and Tsunderia are probably better off without her bullshit anyway. It's just a shame that most people jumping on the bandwagon won't know or care about the history there.

Niji overlap with Holo a bit, but the streaming experience with smaller agencies is so drastically different that they're competing much less than you would think. It's mostly an issue around the time of debuts and losing out on potential hype.

All it takes is for one fan to throw a bitch fit over being unfairly treated by a mod or for the wrong guy to get modded and the whole thing will fall apart like a house of cards. With fan discords this kind of drama can be safely swept aside and kept in its own little bubble, but if it happens in an official discord the chuubas have to weigh in on it, even if its just their silence, and that shit has the potential to spiral out of control very quickly.

Nta but I don't see the fuss over the jackets, the overall designs for each PC member are pretty strong and distinct. Lookswise, they're my favorite out of all the recently debuted gens/companies. I like that Kevin actually shelled out some cash for decent designs and rigging. They also have the most potential for future customization and alt costumes

This is the best I've got. The gist is basically Miki got into Tsunderia as Ria, got a ton of assets from them (potentially including streaming hardware), then she put in hardly any effort into it and leaves three months in. Also all the superchats in Ria graduation stream got refunded, but she got the full payout from Tsunderia's pockets anyways. Tsunderia effectively unpersoned her because of all this.

Discord offers less visibility than an active general. VShojo operates a lot differently so I really can't see that happening. All the girls aside from Hime were all pretty close prior to VShojo which was in the works as far back as early last year. It's closer to a talent agency in that they bring on existing talents than a vtuber one that just recruits and rebrands them

Kawaii production is still small, but its experiencing a minor incline right now. The main thing holding it back IMO is the retarded Collab rule (only two Collab's a month) which makes the girls feel more like a group of loosely connected indies than an actual agency. For example; Charlotte Suzu, my Oshi, is part of Kawaii productions. Despite this, I know hardly anything about what the other girls in Kawaii are actually like. Jeez. This kind of shit just highlights how important getting your first wave right is. Niji and Holo lucked out in getting Mito and Sora. I'll even go a step further and say that Yagoo getting FBK really helped to establish the culture inside the company. Chuuba agencies should do a better job at screening their recruits and instead of looking for the next Gura, they should start looking for the next Sora/Mito (Foundational chuuba) and FBK (glue guy) instead. Then again, people like that don't really grow on trees.

Bluntly speaking, first wave hololive isn't that special, in fact its actually pretty bad Fubuki was it's only saving grace. Second wave is probably even worse. It wasn't really until gamers and 3rd wave that took off, and that was more just them getting lucky with timing rather than anyone in particularly doing something special.

Not exactly the same though. Nijisanji could afford a throw away wave like Selene because Japan remains their home turf (although a bit less so nowadays). Also, no one back then thought that the debuts for Gen 5 would be that big. A lot of people thought 40-50k was already pushing it. Selene's number are actually what used to be the average for debuts. The EN side is different though. No home court advantage plus they have very little traction in the west. One of their waves flopping would actually hurt their expansion.

Holo got lucky with Sora because she was willing to grind and kept the concept of Hololive afloat long enough for the actual game changers like FBK, Aqua, and Gen 3 to join the company. So I guess what I'm saying is that Chuuba companies should either look for a really talented person ala Mito or get someone who's willing to grind for a start-up and be in it for the long haul like Sora. In japan, maybe. In the west Sora remained a de-facto "literally who?" and it was Miko who accidentally gave Fubuki the retard meme audience, which later opened the door for her hamburgaga remix and lyger's Matsuri bandaids clip.

Also, define first and second wave. If you're counting count 0 as a wave, then you're being retarded because Suisei and Miko are there. If you go by Gen 1... no, because Matsuri, Hachaama and Fubuki are in it, and Hachaama was big until Coco came around and Hachaama had to practically reinvent herself (although yes for Aki is struggling again and Mel who has become a nothingburger after youtube began to clamp down on ASMRs).

Prismseems to be a lot more specialized. Each of their girls hits a certain VTubing niche, whereas Tsunderia's girls are incredibly well-rounded. They can all sing, they can all do GFE, pretty sure all of them produce art in some fashion. They might all have strengths, but they're versatile enough to not hit one note over and over.
Seems like the Prism girls have basically one strength and they lean into it hard. Meno is the imouto to protect, Aoi is the idol, Luto is the chuuni brat, etc.

Iku, Luto, Yura, Nia plays games. No one in prism is particularly standout in their gaming ability though. Iku does lite GFE, a lot variety stuff.
Nia's voice cracks and it's cute af.
Luto is a wild aussie that does really retarded, menhera shit like rickrolling for 10 hours straight and playing league of legends.

Aoi and Shiki are legitimately S-tier singers, while the rest of them save for Meno all have above-average competency in singing. Aoi is most fluent in JP, complete weeb dork who moved to Japan. Shiki drank her own piss cause she read too many scary stories and peed in a mountain dew bottle and forgot about it.

Pina and Rita have really comforting mommy voices. Pina tells dumb jokes and writes songs. Rita does voice acting stuff and goes on really long side tracked tangents
