book the hotel right away, most don't charge you until check in anyway so just lock in the price now. Book the flight soon unless you really want to risk it, you can sometimes get a deal if the airline has unsold seats but you might also not get one or have to pay through the nose. But you will have to pay up front for the flight and I don't know your finances

I'm going a week before, wish I could stay longer but need to save my time off for other events, flying back the day after fes. Normally I would try to fly in maybe 1-2 days before fes and stay the week after because there's a better chance for sakura viewing (although it's still a bit early either way, depends a lot on the spring weather) but I also have to be back because I got tickets for Ado in the states

Lost every first round lottery entry (I have a JP phone number so I get to double dip and do both the JP and kaigai lotteries), but my friend won holohoney tickets and I bought one of the ticket packages for stage 2+EXPO day 2, so that's all I currently have, but I'm going for everything.

Won stage1 and day2, but wanted stage2 so I bought that package extra because of Sora, Shuba, Sheep and SexRyS. Dunno what's going to happen to the spare day2 expo ticket.
Planning flights now, will buy before the new year in case there's any price increases that suddenly go into effect at midnight on the 1st.
Planning on heading a week beforehand to get my bearings.

Stage 2 is on day 1, anon. Only holohoney and EXPO day 2 are together. You also don't have a choice with the EXPO day if you're prioritizing the concerts in the packages, they're all fixed.
I was there last year for EXPO day 1 and did everything before the concerts started.

So I only have JP experience, since all the overseas stuff is new, but primary tickets are essentially impossible to transfer. They're either tied to your phone number, your passport, or both. You'd have to be comfortable giving someone your phone/SIM card, or figure out a way to collect your wristband, cut if off, give it to someone else, then have them get passed security (which, would admittedly be pretty easy, speaking from experience).

I already booked a hotel on the east side of Tokyo. I got a single stage/Expo ticket, but I'm going to try to get at least 1 more show ticket to get my trip's worth. I'll also be hanging out in Tokyo for the days leading up to the show, since it's my first time. Gonna hit up Akiba and Shinjuki and drink myself until I throw up on cheap alcohol.

Expo was fun, I enjoyed it. I got to see my oshi's art project in person (probably your oshi's art too) along with a lot of other shit. Met and talked with tons of fans, ate the cool food and drinks, etc. There's a ton to do.

I'll always be nostalgic for 3 as it was the first serious hololive concert I ever watched, but I actually think a lot of performances were even better in 4. Some insanely good stuff in there.
I think cover's 3d game improves every single year and a lot of talents keep getting better and better (Marine's 3Ds this year were fantastic, and Gura has gotten better in all of her guest spots and killed it in fes4). I'm super hyped.
I fucking lucked out hard to get stage 1 with my two favorite talents

The tickets are by lottery. The first round was earlier in December, the next round is the 5th of January, and the final round is in late Feb I think?

You can, you enter for whatever days you want. So theoretically you could just book for stuff on Saturday, fly in on Friday, be there, and fly back Sunday. Seems a bit of a waste if you're going 2000+ miles, but that's a you decision.

There's some bars near the Makuhari station, but they'll probably be pretty busy before and after the event. I'm also down to meet up anywhere in Shinjuku, Akiba, Asakusa, depends on where people are, and for how long.

looks like all the cheap ones are booked out, but unless you're just there for the weekend I would stay in Tokyo, it's about an hour train ride from the venue depending on where exactly you stay but there are a ton of hotels and more places to see than in Chiba, unless you were planning on going to Tokyo disney

Just look in Tokyo and memorize your route from the nearest train/bus line. There's a station that's a 10m walk from the expo center, and unless you're staying all the way in the north/northeast side of Tokyo for a cheap hotel, a ride to Makuhari Messe is like an hour away from downtown, and like $8 bucks. Look for affordable, good hotels near a station instead of paying for this shit.
