This basically. They really should have announced at the get-go it would be a two-part gen so that people expect it and get hype. Now there's just a bunch of butthurt about the limelight being taken off new streamers they like (if not straight up some peoples' oshis now). I mean they don't even have memberships yet for the lazus, so you can argue it isn't that good for them growth/money wise to suddenly water down their offerings by half practically before the Lazus have even gotten their first fucking paychecks yet.

That all plays hard into the perception Niji just chucks everything at the wall with little regard to individuals and only cares about what blows up virally, of which those that do like kuzuha are pretty much worked to death while the ones that flop are left to their own devices alone. Basically they spam new talents like gacha hoping for a Gura-like breakout moment and the rest are junk pulls.

kuzuha channel is a dumb example because all he does is play the same video games all day, which is exactly what he would do if he wasn't under nijisanji. they occasionally drag him outside for recordings or performances but other than that there are nijis with like half his subcount that are just as 'busy' if not more than he is.

This is the perfect post. You really hit the nail on the head. Nijisanji just cares about the bottom line which is why they don't pay their chuubas and keep debuting new ones, the old ones be damned. I'm sure Cover cares about the bottom line too but they really give all of their talents the opportunity to shine on the big stage and they don't leave anybody behind, no matter their viewership. They are all part of the family while in Nijisanji you are just a cog in the big corporate machine.

Hololive has worldwide brand loyalty from normies, it's stupid to expect that from Nijisanji when the majority of those Hololive viewers don't know Nijisanji exists. But the fact EN still managed to get to 100k subscribers so fast, and even have decent viewership, despite being a smaller name--that's impressive. I was expecting Nijisanji ID 2.0, with maybe 200-400 viewers (admittedly Finana was on par with that the other day) for each member. However, this new group's stream schedule will be interesting to see. It'd eat into views much worse than the current overlap if they're not streaming in different hours

I think so far their growth is practically on par with gen1. Usually a new gen growth is faster than their predecessors, but since their debut is happening so close to each other their fanbase hasn't developed enough to mark a difference.

Niji was late to getting to the EN market (bless Coco for pushing Cover on this point), so the numbers they're getting are fine. If anything these are probably the numbers Cover was expecting for HoloEN gen1. The fact that the EN market was flooded with shitty translated clips primed the EN market for Hololive, and any outside force is going to have to work much harder for modest gains. They'll do fine, and they'll build a base on natural growth and less on fad chasing tourists.

We know how the YT algo works roughly, in that the more stuff there is of related topics floating around, the more videos of that topic end up on your recommended. HLM was one of the bigger clipper channels before they fucking imploded and were completely laughed out of the Hololive sphere. To say that they had No effect on Hololive gaining popularity in the West is disingenuous at best and intellectually bankrupt at worst.

I'm primarily a Hololive fan, but the fact is if all of those clips didn't flood Yt and gain traction, HoloEN wouldn't have the fanbase it does now.

According to socialblade, they were grabbing more than 2m views a week from at least June 2020 onwards. It definitely had a big impact on how much to saw Hololive clips on the YT algo.
