>>65585870It's because EOP think they're just like JP chuubas but for EN. Anyone that understands even a little amount of Japanese knows this isn't true. It's also based on racist beliefs about the Japanese, and a fundamental misunderstanding that you can translate a chuuba acting in a Japanese context exactly to a set of behaviors in an English context. If you actually did this then it wouldn't make much sense and many of their mannerisms and ways of talking would fall flat. Instead, they're playing up a very American interpretation of anime characters and anime voice acting that relies on scrunching up the vocal chords in a way that Japanese voice actors don't do.
The point is that they're popular for playing into stereotypes from a very Western/American perspective of anime and Japanese subculture. This allows EOP to convince themselves that they're getting an authentic JP experience, despite that nobody but EOP believe this. The twins showed great skill in understanding exactly how to finesse their intended audience and would probably be completely different if they got accepted for HoloJP for which they also applied. Kiara wasn't popular because she didn't try to do any of that, just had a weird voice lmao.
