It could have been a considerably less serious, "Oh, I suddenly have plans, be back in a week or two," like with Zaion, or just radio silence altogether. Both of which would still generate some negative attention, but not as much as a hospital lie.
That said, if it is a stealth suspension lie, I doubt Selen would play along with it, considering how outspoken she is. Either she'll outright say that was management's call, she'll go with the lie but without any sense of subtlety, or she'll just outright quit. Having the company cover for suspending you by claiming you're in the hospital is such an abuse of power, I can't see anyone in NijiEN staying unless they have literally nowhere else to go (which is to say, not just streaming, but any source of money at all(.
