Holostars is specifically a failed project, male vtubers are obviously popular but Holostars has a lot of baggage by being part of Hololive and it has years of failure in its history. Everyone keeps holding out for some burst of popularity that allows them to have an underdog story but it's not going to happen. Better to scrap the whole thing or let them break off and be independent.

Ye i think it's the main issue of holostars. It's just far too late in the game at this point.
The world isn't permisive enought so you can success when you played almost every card wrong like the holostars did, and for fact it's just going downhills for a while.
Not helping that the fanbase is now both gangrened and even ledditor don't like them anymore.

Male vtuber simply just isn't popular in the west. The reason why Luxiem is so popular is because of it's chinese fanbase, something Hololive literally can't acquire. Japan would also would rather watch NijiJP males and Korea are more into LiveEN and their own males.

There's just no demand for male idols since outside of kpop, idol singing is considered unmasculine/gay.
Magni and Vesper were different since they acted more like dudebros than the rest, but they're gone now.
