Macroeconomically, investors are pulling out en masse from China because of the geopolitical tensions boiling over. It would be hard to get investors to start a venture in China for anything now, let alone Vtubing. Bilibili, the biggest anime-focused website, already works with Anycolor and was the only real independent company that doesn't have Chinese government ties or investments while everyone else in this picture does. The only other site that competes in the same area as Billibili is Acfun and they nearly shut down in 2018 because they had some possible financial constraint and the site went down for 10 days. So yeah, in essence, it's an idea which won't be able to take off. Not bad, but needed to happen a long time ago before Anycolor.
