I don't think it's the fault of women that this happened. Obviously not, that's insanely reductive.
I think it's the fault of the Twitch administration. They collectively set about creating THE MOST TILTED incentive structure POSSIBLE in favor of turning their platform into a place of camwhoring, because that was their DESIRE. They had INTENT to turn it into a camwhore festival.
For one, it's a well documented fact that:
>If you camwhore, you WILL have better moderation than other channels and you WILL have greater leniency in your punishments when you go too far when compared to channels who don't camwhore.This is a fact. It's been proven for years. Women have literally HAD SEX ON STREAM and been given slaps on the wrist, whereas other women who do completely banal things that happen to be against the rules by accident get much more severe punishments.
And the fact that the rules have consistently changed to be in favor of camwhore content, even overriding other content types explicitly. The "Just Chatting" page being set up in the first place, the fact that it would always loosen up the content standards with every passing day, etc etc. And of course, if you were a woman who streamed normally, you would be essentially ignored when the crazies came after you (let's not forget that some people do just hate women and go after them for that purpose), basically telling them "If you aren't camwhoring, we aren't going to protect you."
It's an extremely clear outcome, because it was what was INTENDED. Twitch didn't "just so happen" to become a place dominated by camwhoring meta for women. The people in charge of Twitch CREATED and IMPLEMENTED a set of incentives explicitly designed to cultivate an environment where women had only two options to succeed on their platform:

>protect yourself by being part of a larger, typically guy-dominated social group that will have your backIt's the intended outcome, essentially. So of course when Vtubing came to Twitch, the same incentives fucked them over in a vicious circle.
