I find it interesting to see how people are reacting to Mel's termination versus Pomu's graduation, and it's interesting to see the complete tonal difference between the two even in just 8 hours. Just check out the announcements outside of this discussion thread, you can see Mel's thread has less comments in an eight hour period than Pomu's did, and almost ALL of the top comments (outside of the ones in disbelief) just immediately accept Cover's reasoning and seem to mostly be ok with it. You might argue that there's a discussion thread on the Hololive subreddit that did garner over a thousand comments, but again, if you scroll through that you'll STILL see the complete tonal difference, almost everyone is accepting of what happened.
On the other hand, go to Pomu's graduation thread, and you don't have to scroll far at all to see all of the negativity surrounding Nijisanji and several rrats mentioned as if they were straight up facts. Even though Pomu left amicably, her archives will be left alone, and by all accounts she seems happy with her decision, people are using it to bash the company.
I'm curious to know why there's such an immense disparity between the two. I can think of a couple things:
1. Selen's music video was removed, and Selen herself has gone radio silent since. I suppose the negativity from this event may have inadvertently affected Pomu's Graduation notice, however, EVEN BEFORE Selen's issues, I could still see a marked difference between how the general community viewed both companys.
2. Zaion's document. As an outsider looking in, I feel like this was the turning point where the general perception of Nijisanji started to sour, and I don't think it ever really recovered. At the very least, I believe it's where the stealth suspension claims have come from.
I don't mean any disrespect with this comment, I just find it interesting to note the differences. I'm sure some of it also has to do with brigading from other forums, but even that I don't think can account for everything.
Any thoughts?
