>>67360936To be clear I don't think they make much from merch at all, but Millie also got a lot of shit for that stream addressing drama. The livers shouldn't be expected to play PR for Anycolor. If the corpo wants people to know how much they pay their talents they'll publicize it.
Pomu was previously asked what are the best ways to support her, and she always said Voice Packs > Streamlabs > Superchats/Membership > Merch, but again that's also going to be the same for any other corp since the merch has manufacturing costs and multiple 3rd parties are involved.
And like, people shit on Anycolor for this but at the same time Hololive doesn't even let their talents use Streamlabs, and didn't start taking advantage of voice packs until recently. If you're a vtuber trying to decide which one to work for purely based on the revenue split, Nijisanji is still a competitive option. Your fans can more directly support you through those options and Pomu made quite a lot of money off them. Merch is supposed to be for the fans primarily, so that income is less important. This isn't damage control since I have no idea what their merch cut actually is, just saying logically most people would prioritize it at the bottom when signing a contract so maybe they could get away with a 5% cut while offering other benefits.
