If she had maintained the same activity as Year 1 she'd have at least a million more subs. I think it is fair to say that she dropped the ball, maybe on purpose or because of external factors we'll never know such as the mysterious personal life issues.

Worst scenario is that she quits being someone online entirely and just disappears. I'm completely fine with her taking a backseat as long as she's part of hololive or streams as an indie, entirely up to her.

Yes and no.
Part of the appeal of vtubing, to me, is the potential for longevity. You really aren't forced into a particular format- the game is just getting started, really -so a vtuber could potentially keep it going well into their middle age or early parts of late life, if they so choose. So while this system would let people gracefully retire once they were done with it, sort of, it would also pressure people to quit early/at a peak, and maybe even "reroll" to try to get multiple revenue streams rolling to live off of. There would be a factor of "you should have quit when people loved you but now you've dragged it out" / diminishing returns FOMO, as well as pressure for new talent- "why are you still taking up studio/staff resources? Make room already" type rhetoric.

Some time ago there was a thread about the graduation of which holos would hit Cover the hardest and anons talked shit about others saying Gura because of the "no streams" meme, when this is exactly why. They are 100% okay with her streaming only whenever she feels like it as long as she is occasionally available for promotions because she is a huge asset to them as a "mascot character" for Hololive. And not even for EN but in large parts for JP and Asia and generally where all her merch (again, despite no streams) still always sells out like this, where they plaster her on things to promote local tourism among other stuff to people who probably have no idea about her being a EN vtuber who practically only streamed in English. Even if she hadn't pretty much already achieved everything she wanted to multiple times over as a vtuber she is past the point of the "streaming vtuber" type. Of course it fucking sucks because what does that mean to her fans if they are not delusional enough to cope with

There's literally 6 other nachoneko daughters and none of them have the same level of success as gura despite having basically exactly the same model (nachoneko's models are basically exactly the same specially the face which is what viewers see 99% of the time). From these Gura has the worst model in terms of quality and rigging by far.
To add insult to injury there's some element of fame that they get by leeching from gura from being able to have the same designer as her.

All this to say that their existence is the proof that you are wrong. There's 6 people out there with the same model and none of them have achieved the same level of popularity despite having it easier than gura as they are able to borrow nachonekos name (of gura's fame). And again, if model was the only thing that mattered and not individual skill, why would there be a difference between those vtubers at all? You could say company, but karubi isn't even in one so what gives? Or is somehow gura the only person to which model is 100% of her worth despite her being a clear outlier in terms of popularity and many people having similar models? She finally streamed and suddenly she's after Bijou,. She did not stream over anyone's debut.

Everyone had been heckling her to stream for a long time. Bijou didn't even have fanbase yet at that point but fakers who had no idea what Bijou would be like rallied around this unknown streamer just to make a fuss about gura's timing to appear. She's been gone for months now and I don't see the 2 million milestone for Bijou yet, it must be Gura's fault for constantly being in the way somehow.

It's the exact opposite, Gura has sidelined herself, maybe Advent and their fans should thank her instead for allowing Advent to feed on the fanbase she built over 3 years as a streamer.

Classic tale of people calling themselves EN fans not realizing the value they had in Gura before after she's gone. Not one aspect of EN improves by removing her from the company. At least Cover saw the value, her genmates saw the value and the Council with Sana did as well.

Imo with fans like these who needs overt enemies. Try to be fun and creative or to sort personal life issues with this constant shit flinging circus, an absolute sabotage job.

This isn't actually true, if one or two scalpers have an outsized control of the market you end up with them pricing things at like 300 for a 5 dollar knickknack and all the other retarded scalpers following suit. If they control the resale market, they can set any price they want.
