I've been waiting for such a thing just to see what the protocol would be. Would it be more or less respectful to unmask them in death? I imagine everyone would be fucking distraught, anyone who watches vtubers at all would be in the dumps for a week or two.

It's weird to me that THIS is the most relevant chuuba who died. She was a part of that Niji and Bilibili joint vtuber project. Everybody else are literal who's. It's still sad, but it's amazing our field is so young that nobody even remotely relevant here has passed.

Well statistically speaking, it's not like it is that rare since IRL, I have seen it happen to a mate I went to school with. She had apparently been sick for a long time so it was a chronic terminal illness like a cancer that had gotten worse, and it was probably not COVID or anything. The fact she went on her break the time she did indicated that she forsaw the end coming.

Why? Not everyone who watches movies goes into depression when an actor dies, or sports fans when a sportsman dies. No one is going to be sad if a vtuber they didn't particularly care for passes away.
