Lots of professions require sacrifice. A long haul truck driver sacrifices his family life, a professional athlete sacrifices his youth, a surgeon sacrifices his sleep schedule, a paramedic sacrifices his sanity.
All of these profession, for the top performers, being a HUGE upside if they’re OK with the sacrifice.
If they’re not, they can always be a short haul truck driver, a personal trainer or whatever else they want.
What they cannot is to receive the same reward without making the sacrifice, or to FORCE OTHER not to take the deal.
