>>67925434NTA but Nerissa's one of the few holos - similar to Matsuri - that have too much of "herself" and too little of her "character" in her.
She's too much of a "white girl" - openly admits as such - whereas chuubas like Mumei still keep up some parts of the facade.
> that shit is not importantIt's VERY important for fan-created media. We like to dunk on Omega's lore autism, but some aspect of lore and character is what gives a VTuber life as a character in media outside of streams. Appearances in games, fanart, comics, manga, animations etc. wouldn't work if there wasn't a solid foundation of "lore" behind the VTuber - either their own (Myth, Pekora, Marine etc.), or created with the help of their fanbase and on-stream events (Ame, Subaru, Kanata etc.).
It's why stuff like Holocure, and that Myth animation get so much traction in the community.
If you lean too much into the "non-VTuber" aspect of your personality - irl race, irl "vibes", bringing family (who don't always stick to the lore) etc. can hamper the "impression" of a VTuber among the fanbase.
In the chuubas=wrestling analogy, it'd be like a wrestler that's just there to collect a paycheck. Not playing to the crowd, just doing the fights one after another, bringing family to fights, getting them involved in stage disputes and following the chairman or whoever sets the storylines without contributing anything on their own.
There'a also the aspect of side characters being more popular than the main ones, frequently seen in anime.
Matsuri also had her mom in streams for a while, but then stopped because her chat kept asking for her mom whenever she did solo streams.
Pekora had a similar problem but her dynamic with the audience is quite different.
Right from day one she had a ton of people asking for Pekomama after her first appearance, and she shut that shit down instantly. Pekomama didn't appear on her stream for a LONG time after that.
She's basically trained her audience to treat her mom as a rare event so as to not distract from her regular streams. They're happy when she appears (and joke about her being more popular) but Pekora is still the main person they're there for.
Pekora also has a strong personality so there's very little danger of her mom overpowering her.
Nerissa's sisters are simply far more "interesting" to the audience than Nerissa herself. And she's been VERY generous with giving the audience what they want. Her clip ecosystem is dominated by clips of her sisters being interesting, her own solo clips are losing out. Soon she'll have people in comments asking for her sisters every stream, and she WILL be quite hurt by it.
