Is numberfagging normal in Asian culture? Pekora's minor yab when she opened a new tab on stream and one of her most visited sites was a JP site for vtuber number stats confirmed her numberfaggotry, as well as a common talking point indonesian posters bring up is stream numbers. The stereotype of Asians and math also leads me to this assumption.

I don't think there's a particular bias for men in Nijisanji. It's just that there's a distinct absence of top men in Hololive, putting them in stark contrast with Niji.

Alright, so here's the subs growth for last week for Nijisanji JP. As usual, we have Chronoir growing fast on the top, with Kanae overtaking Mito. No news here on top, maybe except a buff for Kuzuha from winning an APEX tournament with his broken English.

Notable female members on the incline right now are:
- Hoshikawa (6th). She has the ambitious goal of hitting 1M subs by the end of this year and is working incredibly hard to get it. Her current incline is from multiple sources: viral short videos, collabs with Kanae, APEX coaching from Shibuya Hal, and the latest one is her CR Cup clips that allowed her to draw in the FPS audience.
- Yuuki Chihiro (9th). The APEX Goblin started a megaproject in the Nijisanji minecraft server with Ibrahim, there's a ton of cross-pollination between Chihiro and Ibrahims' viewers that boosted them both up.
- Shiina Yuika (11th). Another one benefiting from CR cup boost as she's teamed with the two famous CR members that also boosted Naraka (56th) into relevancy last tournament. Also, a horror game collab with Kenmochi is where her cute side comes out in full force.
- Deron (17th) and Onomachi (84th). Baseball tournament buff, with Onomachi getting nearly 10k in the past few days.
- Levi (55th). 3D stream buff and an upcoming concert.
- Sango (82th). From around a month ago her clips basically dominated Niconico's rankings and boosted her from 120k-ish to 145k. Her short game streams now average 2k+ viewers from <1k.

Notable male members' incline:
- Ibrahim (28th). HUGE boost from the minecraft megaproject where he can touch 20k viewers on stream. Also has a PES tournament in the works for next month.
- Maimoto (37th). The lotion curling collab hogged 3 high spots on YouTube trending for days and boosted him from 295k~, and now he's running news coverage for the baseball tournament which will prop him up further, all while being the big name for the baseball tournament as a whole.
- Kagami (20th). Baseball, nuff said.

Upcoming event:
- CR Cup this weekend.
- Kuzuha, Ange, Sasaki, Rion, and Shiina willl start getting their baseball buffs this weekend.
- Chima 3D is tomorrow.
- This Friday this chart will get 5 new additions as the new JP wave debuts after a nearly year-long drought.

People would usually tell you to do your reps but thread is slow so some spoonfeeding may be benefitial.

Here is the deal

It helps to eyeball it but mixing different methodologies in the same chart would hurt the visual comparison.
Given how much changed in Hololive from the Capcom strikes on Mio to now the cutting point of July 2020 is not that bad.
Before that point Hololive was some other company that just so happen to have the same people today.

Couple of points to add, threads automatically archive after 1500 posts, and the bump limit for some reason is 309 not 300. It's very rare for threads to hit the 1500 post limit outside of ~98% of Hololive Global threads, Niji EN threads when a big stream is going on and Holofightz back in its prime.

Application deadline is Sept 30th, two rounds of interviews to be held afterwards, then they need to spend time working with the successful applicants to design the character. Any debut is safely going to be in 2022, probably mid-2022. If they dump all 50 at once instead of extending the debuts out over a period of time it's going to be extremely interesting times.

Whether or not it's late, well, I'd say that depends on whether Sony's entry is a mark of the beginning of the end of vtubing, or whether they're going to spark a new chapter with every major record label/tech company investing heavily into their own vtubers.

Some highly talented Indies are also going to have a lot to gain, assuming Sony's scouting is at least decent.

You may not be aware of how lowly regarded music labels are with regards to how they treat their talent.

In the past 10, 15 years music labels merged with newspapers, itnernet companies to become arbiter of the truth so the sort of article that villainized RIAA disappeared from the web but their fame didn't.

I'm not seeing a mid level talent like IRyS and AZKI trading what they got for a shot with a label.
I could see Suisei, but couldn't guarantee whether she would succeed or get chewed and spit out like hundreds of equally talented girls

I think 50 will be divided into separate niches. It doesn't say they want all music creator. Just vtubers. It doesn't even say streamers so you might get content creators that would upload stuff. Another thing is the corporate is very sticky in funding basic things. 50 might mean just providing the avatar and maybe stduio recording time allocations and nothing more. This will also mean that it will be 90% more sanitized than whatever Niji talents are producing. They are pooling anyone that is interested. Spamming may or may not work but since they all only have a 1 year contract, you will be able to tell that Sony is going to cut whoever does not perform.

I kinda wonder why no company has considered making a big time vtuber as a sponsor. Like Netflix creating a vtuber is great and all and I'm sure that it's a lot more cost effective as well. But the exposure that N-Ko chan gets is pretty much 2view tier at this point. It depend where you look. That A-Soul group is quite successful so is Virtual Real and it's affiliates. They are both backed by big corp. Sony is big corp. Most debuts nowadays are from small companies that have no brand recall and that are recruiting streamers. They are not limiting the scene to streamers. Sony Music are debuting 50. Not just 2-3 which means there's a high chance at least 1 one of them will do decent.

The only thing I know is that they use their managers to make requests and such so if you were a music producer, you will see that the email is coming from Cover and not from the talent. They are more used to host stuff but the main channel to shill card games ain't that big to begin with. I use them because they are backed with big money from BiliBili and TikTok. Pretty much what Niji and Cover is providing. The only question is how much backing are they going to get and if those people will be main streamers or just main content creators or singers with a channel. Another contender of course is scouting for both the talent and 2D designers and riggers. If they nail their scouting then getting good numbers for a handful will be easy. The fact that they are giving the talent creative freedom and right to their avatar is already a good sign that they might get JP Indie talents that are already successful to try it out.

Also, something to note for Suisei: Taishi had started to livetl on her channel (the bloke that used to love to for Coco).

Gura was playing a game that's mostly played out at this point, was streaming at the same time as Ame, and has probably lost some viewership due to doing such a piss-poor job at informing her fanbase outside of the ones who watched her last stream that she would be gone for at least 4 days, if not more. IRyS was streaming part 2 of one hand clapping and was streaming when Gura was still playing through the EXACT SAME GAME, so she took a pretty big hit and only peaked when Gura stopped.

Skills are transferrable. They can hire Talent Managers and such. I'm pretty sure their legal team will handle getting permissions. Their content will still be reliant to the artist anyways. It's not like before where everything is scripted. I won't be surprised if some of the artists they hire don't adapt any lore whatsoever to their 2D. This is the same for any famous Virtual Idol Group in Japan. I am not counting Hololive there btw. Some of them are undoubtedly more famous than the Seiyu themselves. The divide of having your own 2D representation and your own personal life is alluring to many artists. Not to mention the fact they still keep the royalties even when they quit. Sony probably can tell that there is something wrong with AC's business model and they would rather leave their internal teams handle it rather than rely on a company with a unpredictable track record. I mean, look at them. Nijisanji went from top of the chuuba world to distant second in the span of a year.

If there is one thing that could save Niji is AC getting bought by Sony (which they're clearly not doing), or merging with some of the other agencies to pool resources for major events and merchandise.

The issue with music stuff is that there's a lot of down-time between each step of the way, so unless you've got a gig outside (Such as AZKi) or are doing a lot of non-streaming stuff already, why not stream to increase your presence and rake in some dosh in the meantime?

After all, you can only do so much singing reps in a given week if you want to keep your voice in good shape.

About the numbers I had posted showing Gura and IRyS, I’m thinking Cover changed Gura’s time slot simply to fit IRyS in at an earlier time? Although people are saying the overlap can lower both their numbers a bit, it’s also likely Gura streaming earlier than normal could do that as well. This can be noticed when Gura was streaming before IRyS even got on. I think Cover was better off leaving everything as it was.

Just some info. The peak for Ame was because she did a guerilla stream where she was dancing to copyrighted music in her chibi 3D. Gura's schedule is weird if Cover was actually adjusting the time to fit Gura because historically, she streams at 8PM. She started streaming at 9PM 2 weeks ago which was 1 week before Irys debuted. Something might have come up for her to change to 9PM. Anyways, the change in her sched is not because of Irys. Irys herself already said that she scheduled 10PM because people requested that she stream at an earlier timeslot. People are now requesting for her to change it again. Another point to make, Amelia is clashing with Gura because she is scheduling streams at 9PM as well. You can check her sched on Twitter.

Nah, this "black company" thing is thrown around a lot with regards to VTubing but it has nothing to do with what regular JP office workers go through.

With that said Hololive is perfect as it is, warts and all and after the changes in mid 2020 (respecting copyright, taking harassment claims seriously, having more management doing backstage work) there is not a lot to improve there without removing the

I think Noel talked about this - they have a 3rd gen timetable where they put their streams in.
They try to avoid overlapping start times, but after an hour, it's fair game to overlap.

Yea, normally Ame and Gura at least sort of co-ordinate their streams. If anything, Gura starting earlier is her giving some space to IRyS, because recently her streams have been -> 2+ish hours of gameplay + 1+ hour of SC reading. The fact that she streamed over IRyS today was her getting caught up in the game + first day back.

We'll see how things are next week, this week is just kind of odd for Gura since if hints dropped are to be believed as to why she took her break, she's not gonna be back to 'normal' for a bit.

In 2021, according to Holostats, Pekora schedule a stream 60 minutes or less from a Marine stream 64 times, with 168 times that was not being the case.

i'm kinda surprised i haven't seen anyone consider sony picking up coco or poaching haachama to debut ahead of the pack and build their vtuber brand up. if cover doesn't have rights over 'haachama' then haachama channel can pop up. sony has the money to provide them actual teams to do content and they're both the types whose content would massively improve with a team behind them.

There's a number for JP Indies that aren't streamers but do live stream performances that can fit. They are probably still struggling to get a break. Maybe they already did but failed. Maybe this time they can get in since it's 2D. Mainstream appeal has to be there. Just the fact they are willing to debut 50 talents means they are pouring significant amount of money. It shows a lot of trust. It ain't going to be 2-4 talents that you can forget if it fails. That certainly will draw a lot of indies over.

Yeah, Gura should just keep streaming at this time. IRyS should use the timeslots before or after it. She'll benefit from Asacoco's audience being able to talk in english and japanese.
