>>6820173Again, no, not every streamer likes the chat arguing amongst themselves. Whatever anecdotal examples you can name do not speak for everyone. And yes, I am comparing conversations chat has amongst themselves to shitflinging, because when you encourage that behavior wholesale, eventually it leads to that. I'll name an example for you. Once in Astel's chat, his dedicated translator, Reina, shows up. She points out to him that saying "trap" is problematic. A Japanese viewer asks her why. Eventually chat is overrun with the two arguing over problematic English language back and forth and the people actually attempting to talk to Astel are drowned out. Again, Vtubers like Coco have mentioned that a good chunk of their viewers come from chat interaction. If they can't actually respond to their viewers, that can limit their sub growth quite a bit like in Coco's case. Not to mention all of the clips that can come from chat interaction as we can see with this clip:
https://youtu.be/OlYxZ3xRbaQPut yourself in a vtuber's shoes. Would you rather, A, encourage viewers to talk amongst themselves, leading to arguments and ostracizing new viewers - or B, ban it wholesale and reap all of the benefits of chat interaction with none of the issues. The answer is obvious. To begin with, it can look bad for a vtuber if anybody becomes well known in the chat to begin with, you see how the fucking Beatani threads are when "Dads" know each other. It just leads to jealousy, rumors, fighting - retardation in general. The vtuber approach is right for vtubers.
