You're forgetting that the Idol industry is scum. Sure, it produces some absolute honey buns, but those honey buns ALWAYS end up getting betrayed by their industry, that's why it's referred to as being as scummy as casting couches in Hollywood.

He's running Niji exactly like anyone would expect an Idol company to be run. His only mistake was thinking you could do that anywhere else but Japan and people wouldn't be appalled by the brazen attitude of its stone-wall management used to getting its way through strong-arm tactics. If this were Japan, Selen probably would have got her knees broke by Yakuza.

But that's why it's #2 in Japan and was for the longest time the underdog. Niji was at the top because of these ruthless tactics that are just commonplace in the entertainment industry over there because there is no downside to fucking over your talents when your company is made of stone walls.

Look at it like this: The way we see Nijien being 'horrible mismanaged' isn't that way to NijiJP, that's just how management is for everyone in the company.

It should be noted Hololive is a tech company, at its heart it's a tech startup that coincidentally pivoted to vtubers after a few tech demos it was making didn't perform very well. The culture is completely different from a company who started as an Idol company and started with the express intent of managing talent in a industry that is intensely cutthroat.

Here is the thing, he doesn't run the company.
After Anycolour went public health just hired a bunch of people from entertainment industry, former idol managers, movie directors and people in similar positions and told them to run the business.
Which is why proft and revenue has went up, these people know how to make money Idols especially really on merch.
But they don't understand vtubing or why Nijisanji is popular, so they are driving the brand to the ground while not understanding it's essense.

Let's be realistic, he's not the one directly fucking over their talents. But it's the people he hired. Just look at those termination notices. They read like a management is freaking out and is trying to explain why they should not be fired. Zaion's sounded extremely defensive and so did Selen's. Even if he wanted to be good manager, he already lost all control over the EN branch because nobody will tell him anything that could get them in trouble. It's unfixable without nuking the whole branch.
