>>68420619If all you want to do is be able to understand Japanese streams, if you have a certain type of brain and consumed enough media with JP audio and EN subtitles, you might find you've picked up some of the feel for it by immersion. If you have, then all you really need to do is drill vocab. I do recommend learning kanji at the same time you do though, since A: you'll eventually be able to read stuff too, and B: it is kind of helpful for learning to distinguish between all the homophones. As the other anon mentioned though, definitely start with learning hiragana and katakana.
