Logically speaking, a depressed person failing to kill themselves should be even more drepressesd, since they are still alive against their will, and they'll feel even more stupid than before since they can't even do *that* right. They might also not want to draw any attention to the fact that they are mentally unwell and just failed to an hero.
By conclusion, a person who loudly annouces that they tried to kill themselves and failed, and that gets lot's of attention and money as a result, probably didn't seriously try to die, they just wanted help and/or validation in some way.

Many of the people that survive a suicide attempt becomes terrified of death, as with most near death experience. Alot of those that actually go for it immediately regret it halfway through, if they're using a slower method like jumping or necking themselves.
That's why if you're going to kill yourself, make sure you have enough money for a bullet but even then, to pull the trigger will require you not shitting yourself.

No, suicide is not logical, it's your brain blinding yourself thinking it's the only way out.
But once you actually tried it your survival instinct kicks in and your brain suddenly able to think all the alternative you could've gone through.
It also give you strength knowing there's nothing to lose and gives you courage to face your difficulty.

The answer to you question is, yes. Apparently, when you have time to think about dying while dying and then failing to die, you usually go hard the other direction. Most of those who survive do not attempt further attempts.

The vast majority of suicide attempts aren't premeditated after long depressions but spur of the moment attempts when people have bad episodes they can't handle. Thankfully, these attempts usually have a poor success rate, especially in women. They are genuine suicide attempts but most people get better right after when they realize how stupid it was.
