Like, it was pretty clear from Season 1 that Marco and Star were going to end up together (they literally went to a magic ball that intertwined their souls together in like, episode 8 of the whole series), and it was honestly kind of refreshing seeing a "girl pines after boy" dynamic in a market full of the opposite, which made Star's cuckqueen arc through Season 2 interesting. But when they reversed the roles in Season 3, having Marco break up with Jackie just after Star gets back with Tom, and then we get a season and a half of "boy pines after girl" generic slop, that's when the whole thing got obnoxious. Not to mention Marco getting together with someone who was essentially a fan-favorite background character, only to never have the relationship brought up again after that point until it was revealed several episodes later that they broke up offscreen. Like, Star should have just never gotten back with Tom, and Star and Marco should have just been single for half of Season 3, getting together at the end of it and giving us a whole season to explore their relationship dynamic, instead of just throwing them together haphazardly at the end with basically no time to do anything with it.
Or Marco should have just gotten together with Hekapoo, that would have been cool too, fuck it.
