>>69134136It's not like there's absolutely no reason to join a corp. The corp gives you a quality* model and an immediate boost in numbers, as well as handling merch and shit. For someone starting at the bottom, it's a big step up, no doubt. The cuts aren't deep when you've got nothing. But as you grow, the cuts only grow deeper, especially ones as harsh as Niji's. There's a point where you'd almost certainly do better if you left, but it's a big decision. I can't blame anyone for not making it lightly.
That said, there has to be a point where it's clear the ship is sinking and the captain's gone mad and is only making the situation worse. You need to get out or you'll drown with the mad men. I think what's holding up that decision right now is that the situation on the boat has been fucked for so long, yet not quite sinking, that everyone's simply at a loss. Hunkering down and following orders is the easy choice, so that's what they default to.
