>>69238922Idol culture is like stoner culture or religion, it's a nice little community of people who enjoy the same thing with it's own little quirks, activities and customs. It's good for the most part but will always have bad apples or toxic parts.
People outside the culture who rally against it should, for the most part, just ignore it and o something more productive with their time, there's plenty of hunger and homelessness in the world that they could be alleviating if they didn't spend all day campaigning against a mostly harmless hobby.
On the flip-side, there are those within the culture who are all too happy to maximise the most toxic aspects of it, who feel that such behaviour is 'gatekeeping' against perceived threats from outside. They'll spend more time engaging in these hatful activities instead of focusing on what brought the to the culture in the first place be it fun, entertainment, relaxation or a sense of community.
I myself indulge in Idol culture occasionally, I enjoy Holofes and other concerts but I don't go all in as it would wear down my enjoyment of it to do so, I'll never rally against people who take it more seriously than I do but I will suggest to people both inside and outside of any particular culture that as long as no one is coming to harm we should all simply live and let live.
