At this point, I am pretty sure Hololive main business is no longer streaming. They make more dough from sponsorship, collab event, ticket sales, and merch. Streaming now just a way to build up and maintain popularity.
That's the only explanation I can come up with to explain why Gura is allowed to do what she did
I mean you don't need to use streaming to market your brand more if you already the most popular on the market.
I am pretty sure her recent comeback is related to her Aquarium collab.

She's allowed to do what she did because she is the face of Hololive in the west, where they are trying to invest in more. She is their biggest subbed member and the only EN anyone in JP gives a fuck about besides Mori of all people. She can ghost Chumpedos for 8 months and come back like nothing happened and fans will still pay her millions in subs and supas. As far as management is concerned their bottom line is not at risk.

Cover might have wanted Gura to shill for the aquarium collab but that wouldn't explain the return of membership content after more than 5 months. Mumei is still on her break so contract negotiations will likely continue for a while but the situation in HoloEN was good enough that Gura decided to briefly return. Still depending how things go with management there could be another break.

They signed an NDA so unless management gives them permission they can't say a word about contract renewals or anything that is confidential. Japanese companies aren't known for caring about the truth so Cover has every reason to force talents to use excuses that avoid putting any of the blame on Hololive.

Lmao you can’t treat Gura like your regular nijinigger chuuba that scrambles to get together enough subs and streaming hours to stay afloat, she is beyond anything, she’s basically the face of Hololive. Even while she was streaming the least, they somehow made a REAL LIFE aquarium in Sendai using her likeliness and her voice lines. The Japanese love her and she doesn’t even speak Japanese. You clearly don’t understand the pedestal Gura is on. There’s absolutely no strict streaming requirement she needs to hit, she is their golden goose, and even if she was to only do one stream a year she would still be untouchable.
