Like Japan with avatar using utaites, Korea had their own style of avatar streamers before Kizuna AI but the focus in both cases was usually within their respective markets. Vtubers in Korea are still a niche, a lot of vtubers from Korea that want to reach a more global audience usually stream in other languages... but that's not different from a lot of western streamers streaming in English despite being from Germany, Sweden or wherever.
