>>69692714>What's the point in subbing to a channel you don't care about? You are misunderstanding the meaning of a channel subscription, likely persuaded by the many content creators that equated
>subscribingto
>really showing appreciation for the content of the channelThe subscribe button has one and only one function: to mark a channel in order to be notified when said content creator puts out a new video. No more, no less.
But content creators started "racing subs" as a proxy metric of popularity, and other content creators started this pitch
>if you REALLY like me and want to support my channel press the subscribe buttonIt distorted the original meaning to the point youtube STOPPED notifying people about every new video of their subscription list and created the "little bell" to restore the old functionality, the content creators started begging for the bell to be clicked and youtube NERFED the bell with a second level on a menu needing to be selected (the "All" option) for the old functionality to be restored.
All in all MOST people (specially then ones using the side to casually watch videos) still use the "subscribe button" for the old purpose
>click subscribe button>more of the content creator will show up at feedThey don't have any attachment to the content or consider it supporting the channel, they click and move to the next video
