>>6992361I'll indulge you, but please never post a frog again. VTubers are streamers using an avatar, typically anime-inspired, that serves both as a means of anonymity and as a way to inhabit a "character" that isn't the streamer. Typically, the streamer and the character they play (the avatar, e.g. Gura, Rushia, Artia, Beatani) hew very close to the streamer's personality, albeit with some differences or exaggerations that are part of the character. There is large variance in how loosely or how carefully the streamer plays the character. For some, the character is truly not them, while for others, it's basically the person with an anime avatar draped over them. People watch them for a lot of reasons, but I don't want to write more than I have. There's a board for them because there's a board for any hobby that gets large enough on 4chan. Vtubers had previously taken up way too much of /jp/, historically a slow board, and are a niche in themselves.
