>>69981229Mouse doesn't get why VTubing is popular AT ALL.
Because she doesn't understand that STORY is at the heart of it all.
Idol journey is basically the same thing as the "rags to riches" story in the west.
This even used to be at the core of US culture - the quintessential "American Dream".
But everyone that goes from rags to riches in the west nowadays either ends up groomed, abused, hard drugs, leaning heavily into partisan politics or just falls off the media spotlight after refusing to do all of the others.
> if even superstars can't have a happy life, what hope do I have?Compound that with the absolute wastes of space in the western streaming scene making money by being awful people to others, it becomes a constant culture of pessimism due to lack of inspiring role models - the "idols" of old.
Hololive got initial interest from funny clips but the core audience was formed by their "story" of overcoming all adversities, yabs, outside attacks etc. and THRIVING.
The audience is PART of this journey. We support them and they reach greater heights. This inspires us to work on ourselves, because we finally have rays of hope that things CAN improve for (You) too.
A lot of these girls struggled to get views back in the day but none of them quit, and though they struggled, they never gave up and kept pursuing their dreams.
So watching all their dreams come true one by one gives you a sense of inspiration and awe, which is SORELY lacking from most western entertainment and "personalities".
Mouse arguably had one of the most powerful stories of them all, being the crippled girl that finds self-actualization in the virtual world. And that WAS what drove her initial success, with clips like these :
https://youtu.be/w42eJcyQR2UThat simple, yet cute model was all the more beautiful because of the story and the struggle behind it, and how awesome it was to see a cute crippled girl get happiness from her viewers, and having these viewers be part of that story.
She threw all of that away bit by bit. First with reaction slop, then letting a leech attach himself to her, then changing models multiple times and treating it as "clothing" rather than her identity, then the whole throwing her "friend" Nux under the bus thing (yeah people still remember) and just generally revealing herself to be a shitty person.
And then finally, the cardinal skin of having someone skinwalk her for a fucking joke of an "idol concert".
This absolute retard thought having the "model" do some 100% perfect choreography is the point of a fucking Idol concert. It's not.
It's a culmination of a ritual, a concert, a dance that your idol gives to you, in her own awkward, stilted yet truly HER way - a reward for all the time and money you invested into helping her grow and succeed.
Waiting until her treatment progressed enough so that she could do the dances herself - no matter HOW awkward or stilted it was - would've been the ULTIMATE climax of an idol journey for her.
A wait YEARS in the making, finally seeing that bedridden girl who struggled to even sit up standing there, walking, awkwardly singing, dancing and posing for (You) - who made that possible for her...
Imagining the fucking wasted potential kino of it all makes me shed a tear man.
Alas, that is no longer possible.
No matter how much Mouse and VShojo do "idol concerts", it will not help.
Her "fans" will just go through the motions, but they will never get the same feeling, because as in every industry, there's a section of fans that simply attach themselves to the "community" for the feeling of belonging, rather than the content that the community enjoys.
And those who WOULD have gotten that feeling, the old fans who thought her to be a simple cute crippled girl? She's looong filtered them out, so they won't be there either.
