It might not necessarily be the chubas' fault, but public opinion of Sony is so tainted in the west that their brand is highly toxic and divisive in anime communities due to their overseas dub requirements, censorship, and love affair with global standards. Any chuba they deploy should be considered compromised by default due to the company's values diverging heavily from otaku.
Becoming Sony will presumably be just a stepping stone for smart chubas to put on their resume before going indie or reincarnating elsewhere.
