>>70166554it's a shithole if either
a.) you have a shit salaryman job
or
b.) you moved there to teach english or whatever and think you'll be accepted as one of them and become truly japanese (you won't)
technically by hours worked per year people in Japan work almost exactly as much as people in the US (little less even) and people will go "but there's tons of uncounted, unpaid overtime" - yeah, in certain jobs, not all jobs hence like I said shit salaryman job sucks.
also if you were a dyed-in-the-wool weeb who wanted to become literally-Japanese and aimed to move to Japan to draw your own manga and be adored by all, that's a middle schooler tier dream and it's dumb to blame the country that it's going to naturally be extremely hard to accomplish that. at-best foreigners sometimes can become somewhat-known as doujin artists.
as for Fuwamoco I think they do have a bit of that chuuni dream to move to Japan and become idols, but they know that is not likely to succeed and really they are there just to experience the country and would be happy just to be part of the scene. as a country, actually it's pretty cool in many ways as long as your workplace is nice, and for fuwamoco they just stream so a life-erasing money grind isn't really gonna be a thing, they can just enjoy life there. its crime rate, health and public systems etc are all incredibly favorable compared to much of the West. food, culture, nightlife etc is all good. also for a foreigner currently the dollar-yen makes its cost of living actually strangely-cheap now compared to what we're used to with all the inflation. definitely a prime place to visit right now with that exchange rate, but living there would be another thing, foreigners truly-integrating into there by getting citizenship, owning real estate etc are real tough things to content with but I suspect fwmc don't intend to go that far. it'll just be a very long vacation for them.
